Do you need a laptop? The Merritt College Library loans Chromebook laptops to enrolled Merritt College students. Chromebook loans are renewable for additional semesters as long as you remain enrolled in classes at Merritt.
To check out a Chromebook, bring your Merritt student ID card to the library Circulation Desk during the hours of Mon. & Wed. 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.; Tues. & Thurs. 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Friday, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Your Chromebook will be given to you in a box. If you have the space, we recommend keeping the box so you are able to return it to the library all together.
Inside of the box, you will find the Chromebook, a power charger (it can plug into either side of the laptop) and a Setup Guide.
Plug the laptop into a power outlet and turn the laptop on using the on/off key in the top row of the keyboard.
The Chromebook will ask you which WiFi network you wish to sign onto. Select the appropriate network and login with your password. If you are using Merritt College's free WiFi (MyPeraltanet), you will be asked to agree to the Guest Wireless Access Acceptable Use Policy. Select the Agree button.
You will now be asked to sign into your Chromebook using your Google account (gmail address and password).
If you do not have a Google account, follow these steps on another device (you will not be able to do this on the Chromebook):
After you have signed into your Chromebook using your Google account, you may be asked about your backup preferences and if you want sync your apps with other devices. Accept or deny as you prefer.
Your Chromebook is now ready to use!
