Introduction

Welcome to this research guide for MUSIC 9 & 10. This guide will assist you in completing your mixtape assignment. The blue tabs at the top of this page will direct you to Merritt Library resources in addition to other free online resources.

Mixtape Assignment

Please note that your assignment may look different. We will focus on step 3.

1. Choose a series of 10 music pieces, examples, or videos from the Internet (that are easily accessible for your instructor) that you want to include for this project.

   a. Selections may be: songs, dances, spoken word, instrumentals ANY genre ANY culture

2. Come up with a creative title for your project (What is your mixtape called?)

3. Justify why you are including the selections by writing 100+ words for EACH selection think of this like adding liner notes to an album. In the end you will have 1000+ words. In these short paragraphs that represent each selected piece, be sure to include:

   i. Why you chose the piece

   ii. How it fits with the context of material learned in our class

   iii. Three or more vocabulary words that you can speak about to refer to that particular selection - and use them in context

   iv. The link to the piece and all relative information (title, artist, year, genre, and country of origin, language)

   v. Instrumentation (which instruments)
