Remember to cite all the sources that you use in your speech. Any ideas or words that are not your own that you quote or paraphrase must be included in the Works Cited list that you are required to submit. Citations must be formatted in the Modern Language Association (MLA) style. The most recent version of MLA is the 9th edition.
The Merritt Library has created a MLA Formatting Guide to assist you. In particular, you may find the section on creating a Works Cited page useful.
If you use the library databases and ebooks for your sources, there's an easy way to obtain the citation automatically formatted in MLA style. Most databases have a built-in citation generator. WARNING: be very careful if you use these features as they are frequently incorrect. You can use them as a starting point, but then it is wise to check/confirm every bit of it. In particular, many times the database title is listed incorrectly.
